Of Lost Love and Beaches

Note: All the articles that I have written till now, have been special to me in form or the other. But what makes this doubly special is the fact that all the emotions exuded in this are TRUE to the best of my knowledge and come from the bottom of my heart. It is worth a mention here that this is my maiden attempt at poetry

Every tide that goes out must come in
Thats what he taught me. I believed him.
Whenever I used to go to the beaches
I would tell him Yes and he would smile

Every time he went out I told myself
Every time he returned I smiled
The next time he went he didn't return
She said he wouldn't. I said no.
Every tide that goes out must come in
He is never wrong. I stood there waiting.

Years passed by and I grew older
My belief didn't. I still believe in that
It was results time. I had done well.
When I realized I flunked, I was confused
Every tide that goes out must come in.
He is never wrong. I stood there staring.

One fine day I realized I had fallen in love
I couldn't take my mind off her
I always assumed she was mine until
She told me she had fallen in love as well
Every tide that goes out must come in
He is never wrong. I stood there crying.

Today I went back to the beach and noticed
reminiscent were those days of the past
I would say yes and he would smile
Suddenly a thought struck me and
now I knew what he meant
The water that went out never came in
It was always another tide of water

With tears in my eyes and smile on my face,
I realize, of all the love I lost in my life
I love him the most, I miss him the most
Love you Dad!!! Miss You!!!
